Our Unique Approach
NeuroStructural vs Traditional Chiropractic
To understand what makes Platinum Chiropractic unique, we must first discuss traditional chiropractic. The goals of traditional chiropractic are typically decreasing muscle spasm, increasing range of motion, and temporarily reducing pain.
The majority of chiropractors practice in this way, and most of these doctors do a great job.
At Platinum Chiropractic, we focus on NeuroStructural Correction
Your spine and nervous system are the foundation of your body, posture, and health. If you imagine your body as your house, what do you think would happen if your foundation had shifted? Floors would creak, drywall may crack, and windows wouldn’t open smoothly. You can put another nail in the floor and spray some WD40® on the window, but these problems would continue to return until you addressed the cause – the foundation.
In our office we detect and correct NeuroStructural Shift in the spine and nervous system. These neurostructural shifts are the underlying cause of many secondary conditions (or symptoms). By correcting these shifts we are able to address the cause of the secondary conditions, leading to a lasting change.
What is a NeuroStructural Shift?
In many areas of healthcare, such as blood pressure, body temperature, and vision, we know there is a normal range for optimal health. In the same way, there is an ideal normal for the function of your nervous system.
A NeuroStructural Shift occurs when there is stress on the spine and nervous system, negatively affecting its function. As the brain and nervous system are responsible for coordinating all functions in the body, when this shift occurs it can lead to numerous secondary conditions.
The strings of a guitar must be set to a very specific tension to produce the desired sound. It takes skilled and precise adjustments to set the tension at the correct level. Your spine and nervous system also must have the right tone for you to function at your best, which requires a much more skilled and precise adjustment.
At Platinum Chiropractic we detect and correct this primary condition of a neurostructural shift, allowing your body to function at its best and experience lasting relief from many secondary conditions.
What are Secondary Conditions?
When a NeuroStructural Shift occurs, it can lead to many possible secondary conditions. At Platinum Chiropractic, correcting these neurostructural shifts frequently helps our patients with conditions such as:
- Acid Reflux
- Colic
- Ear Infections
- Allergies
- Asthma
- Sensory Processing Disorder
- Bedwetting
- ADD & ADHD
- Neuro-Developmental Disorders
- Infertility
- Pregnancy Challenges
- Fatigue
- Headaches/Migraines
- Numbness/Tingling
How Correcting a NeuroStructural Shift Can Help
NeuroStructural Shifts affect the structure of the spine and function of the nervous system. In restoring the structure and function back to normal, we’re able to improve many secondary conditions. We are often asked to explain more about how correcting a neurostructural shift can improve health.
In the case of a pregnant mom, if the structure of the pelvis is not in its proper alignment, adverse stress and tension is placed on the uterus, which may not allow the baby to move or get into the proper position. Or with a child suffering from chronic ear infections, an underlying cause may be a shift in the top of their spine, causing tension on the Eustachian tubes and not allowing the ears to properly drain.
Another example involves the function of the nervous system. There are 2 sides to the nervous system: the calming brake pedal (parasympathetic) side and the stressful gas pedal (sympathetic) side. Your brake pedal is responsible for promoting growth, development, rest, digestion, and immune system function, while your gas pedal is your ‘fight or flight’ system that is supposed to be used for emergencies.
A NeuroStructural Shift in your spine and nervous system causes your brain to perceive the world as stressful and activates your gas pedal, shutting off your rest, digestion, and immune system.
Developmental biologist Dr. Bruce Lipton said it best: “You can’t be in growth and protection at the same time.” As you can imagine, if your body is constantly stuck in survival mode, it will lead to short-term and long-term problems. In children we often see this manifest as colic, ear infections, sensory processing disorder, immune challenges, and ADHD, while in adults it may present as trouble sleeping, constant fatigue, a feeling of stress and overwhelm, or infertility.
